About Me

My name is Amy Johnston and I love being creative.  I've dabbled in countless arts and crafts since I was a child.  In recent years, I've taken to painting. I prefer watercolor and acrylics.  I tell my friends and family I feel like a bit of a poser because I don't have a deep message I'm working to exorcise through my work.  I simply enjoy putting brush to paper or canvas!  I paint what inspires me or makes me happy.  I hope others feel the joy I do when they look at my work.

I'm married to my best friend, Andrew. Thankfully, he's put up with the messes I've made through my creative endeavors for going on 30 years! We have two brilliant and talented children who are grown and gone from the nest.  I was a full-time-mom for 21 years and it was the best job I've ever had.  I miss it often, but am thankful for the new opportunities I have now that my kids are adults.

In college, I started out as an Art Major.  I thoroughly loved my graphics, photography, and design classes.  Back in the day, however, I didn't appreciate art history, so I changed my major.  I graduated from Wheaton College, IL, with a BA in Communication and a Minor in Graphic Arts.  After I married Andrew, I earned a Masters of Education from Auburn University, AL.

We've lived in Tennessee for 23 years and currently call Franklin, TN, home.
